It had been 30 years since England last tasted success against the All Blacks in their own back yard and never before had an England side defeated the Wallabies on their own soil. But history was to be created as Clive Woodward's men descended upon the Southern Hemisphere for the final leg of a long hard season.
What a tour it proved to be. After defeating the New Zealand Maoris, the stage was set for two epic battles, and what was to follow was sheer drama. From the `Siege Of Wellington' to the `Massacre In Melbourne', it was an historic week on foreign soil.
Wilkinson was supreme; Johnson was colossal and Woodward was astute. Three wins out of three made it the perfect ten for the year, and victories away from home against two of the best teams in the world made a resounding statement to the rest of the world.
Relive these two pieces of modern history all over again, in this specially produced programme, highlights from the New Zealand `Maori' v England game played on the 9th June can be found as the bonus feature on the DVD.
In the words of Clive Woodward: "We're doing things that English teams haven't done before"!
